The Dark Season

The Dark Season

by: Rev. “Twinkle” Marie Manning

October 23rd, 2013

We are at the threshold of the Seasons,

the doorway to the Year,

when the Veil is thin,

and time passes amorphously.

We turn inward as the Darkness beckons us.

We welcome the warmth of the fire,

contemplating the mysteries of the Unseen.

We honor the soft ache in our hearts

for those we have lost:

the people,

the dreams.

And we rest.

For rest we must, to heal.

This is the cycle of death and rebirth;

release and renewal.

We cherish this time

as the lessons it offers

penetrate our knowing.

May we breathe in wisdom

and breathe out patience.

October 31st, 2018 Musing:

The first time I read this meditation aloud was at our Marblehead Women's Light Worker's gathering in October of 2013 at Diane Palmer's with Meghan Gilroy joining us via phone. I think of the amazing women in this group each time I revisit it during this time of Samhain, Día de los Muertos, All Souls... To our Circle: Though our journeys have led many of us to far off lands away from the ocean shores of our monthly Marblehead gathering place, we remain ever connected. May each of your lives continue to be blessed as your are most surely a blessing to everyone who knows you.
