Come share this land

Most of our UU congregations are beginning their new service year in the next couple of weeks. When you reflect on this song, “We’ll Build a Land,” what is it you hope Unitarian Universalism (and your congregation) will help build in the world? I especially like the new verse in this version:

“We’ll build a land where the forests are fertile

Where the water and wind run clean and clear

And community matters more than positions

Come share this land

Let’s build it right here!”

Note: This song is by Carolyn McDade and is included in the primary Unitarian-Universalist hymnal. However, this version sung by Mo Mack in Concert with John and Cynthia Boeling as a benefit for the First Unitarian church of Portland in 2016 drops two original verses and adds a new one.

A new grandson

Yesterday, we spent 15 hours in the hospital for the labor and welcome of Cayson Edward Spaulding. Such a blessing is this family of ours. More family celebrations and joys to come in the next few weeks! This will be a summer (and a year) for the record books of our Family Tree! <3

UUA GA 2019

This year’s UUA General Assembly in Spokane, Washington was beautiful and dramatic and sweet and socratic – as is the case with many GA’s. The moments I will share now are from The Red Tent Gretchen and I hosted at the UU Women and Religion and Women’s Federation area, reunions with longtime friends and colleagues, and budding friendships. Of note as well, the Church of the Larger Fellowship celebrated its 75th during GA – lots of fun and heart-warming program! There were UUSCM meet-ups. And, I hosted a UU Talks Poster Session for congregations and groups to learn about this innovative fundraising, outreach and publicity program. There is more to say about GA – there often is. When I process it, I will write again. In love and gratitude, ~ Twinkle.
