This Sunday in Pittsfield Maine

The Meeting House Singers led by Reverend Jess Tardy, and accompanied by a cadre of talented musicians including our own Matrika Press-published poet and songwriter Wes Burton, along with Rodney Mashia, Cynthia Chatis and Ed Arnold will be creating a beautiful service in Pittsfield this week. Jess has been bringing long-awaited new light to this church. She is newly ordained as an Interfaith Minister by the Chaplaincy Institute of Maine (and a lovely soulful woman!!!). Grateful to see glimmers of positive transformation in this congregation. May their spiritual growth be blessed and may they continue on this new and transformational path.

Tara Talks: Working Skillfully with Pain
Sharing Sad News
It is with sadness we share that Rev. Dr. Dorothy May Emerson passed away yesterday. Dorothy is one of my colleagues and one of the authors I published through Matrika Press. Her impact on the Unitarian Universalist faith tradition, and on the UU Women’s Movement is enormous, as are her contributions to bringing awareness and solutions to Class discrimination.
Four Remembrances by Tara Brach
Tara explores the beautiful notion of death as advisor, drawing from don Juan’s teachings by Carlos Castaneda: “How can anyone feel so important when we know that death is stalking us?” and Rumi in his ponderings of: “What can I do to save myself?…I will make the infinite my home.”

Collegial Joy!

One of the greatest gifts in answering one’s call is that of finding your place of belonging among those who are also answering their calls.
Yesterday I was blessed to be on our Church of the Larger Fellowship (Unitarian Universalist) Affiliated Ministers Zoom video call. We joined together from the Philippines to Philly, the United Kingdom, Germany, Maine, Minnesota, and Washington.
May we continue to be blessed, and to be a blessing to all those we share our creative and unique ministries with.
Redefining Church

This video features a glimpse at nuanced ways of worshipping from unique congregations in a variety of religious denominations including the Church of the Larger Fellowship Unitarian Universalist congregation that began in WWII as a correspondence church providing spiritual support to those stationed overseas. In our modern day, CLF continues its correspondence ministries with larger audiences including more than 1,000 incarcerated church members, and the CLF meets primarily in online spaces serving more than 3,000 congregants. The video also features Historic Old West Church, a Methodist church that is prophetically choosing to go against their denomination’s creed against gay clergy and same sex marriage, and is instead choosing to remain a place where ALL people are welcome.
Fireworks Cruise & Camping
Each year we look forward to celebrating Independence Day together with family and friends. This year we are looking forward to an extra-long fun-filled weekend on Moosehead Lake.
