First Universalist Church of Pittsfield

Special Presentation: “The Operator’s Manual for Planet Earth” Presented by: Rev. “Twinkle” Marie Manning & Jason Curran, Musician
Twinkle will be hosting an afternoon ritual in her sacred space in celebration of the New Moon, Solar Eclipse and International Women’s Day this year. Bring your drums!
Then in the evening she and others will join with Women With Wings in Bangor to be part of the UNIFY Women’s Circle Gatherings around the globe in celebration of International Women’s Day. We will sing, chant and dance in honor of the sacred feminine.
For the past six years Twinkle has alternated her location on International Women’s Day between Boston and Santa Barbara with her Empowering Women TV teams in support of International Women’s Day Festivals endeavors. This year she is staying in Maine on Women’s Day continuing her inward journey, nourishing roots and following the calling of her heartsong.
The theme for many this New Moon is: Committed Choice
Commitments require discipline for manifestation to be made possible. Understanding if our choices have been created in places of fear or places of trust will help ascertain their benefit to us and affects they may have on others.
Mystic Mamma offers some insight into the personal implications of Choice in connection with this month,
“Who are you? This is the big question this month. You have an opportunity to explore yourself in new ways and commit to choosing what is important to you regardless of what others may think.
One of the most important choices you may need to make is around how much of other people’s energy and drama you are still willing to carry. How much of your old story are you willing to hold on to? What are you willing to give up to finally lead the life you always wanted?
These are big serious questions and processes and you may need to get some help to dig through the layers of what is ‘not you’ in order to reclaim your authentic self.”
Over the past year the word Hygge has been used to describe our gatherings at Twinkle’s Place.
Hygge – the Danish art of ‘well-being’
(pronounced hue-gah) is a Danish word that is a feeling or mood that comes taking genuine pleasure in making ordinary, every day moments more meaningful, beautiful or special.
So with that in mind, we will list a reference to Hygge for our gatherings that are designed with the embodiment this feeling in mind as the goal. Events could include simply coming over to have tea or coffee or wine together, creating art, cooking and sharing meals, listening to music, watching a movie, etc.
Cozy gatherings will be the key, as we connect and grow our bonds with each other.
If you have an idea for a Hygge gathering – please let Twinkle know!
Celebrate Luminescence with us at Twinkle’s Place!
February 26th, 2016
6pm-9pm
Luminescence celebrates the freedom our faith provides for seeking our own personal truth while honoring the many paths our faith offers for attaining spiritual fulfillment.
One of the purposes for the holiday is that while Unitarian Universalists (UUs) enjoy celebrating our own versions of the holidays that were originally from other faiths — and we don’t want to stop celebrating them — many of us we feel it is essential for Unitarian Universalism that we also develop our own holidays so that we can celebrate our unique religious identity. There is so much to celebrate that is uniquely UU. We hope that this will be the first of a rich palette of holidays of our own.
One of the sources we draw our faith is through Earth-centered traditions. On January 9th we will gather in healing and hope as we transition from one year to the next. Those in our Circle who have come through transitions and are stronger for it, will hold the space for those (while often leaders themselves) are struggling in ways that are preventing them to fully embrace life.
We will align with the energies of the New Moon to raise the vibrations of our Sacred Circle, and our community, as we reclaim and heal the parts of ourselves that have been left vulnerable due to the stresses of life.
Join Us!

Note: Ganesha grants success, prosperity and protection against adversity. He is also the destroyer of vanity, selfishness and pride.
Typically when we host a New Moon Circle, our theme is dedicated to the astrological connections with that moon.January’s New Moon sees Mercury retrograde in Capricorn which exposes truths in ways that up-end all pretenses, reveal lies and misleadings, and illuminates the reality of situations and relationships. In fact, this is a theme throughout 2016.
“If we want truths wrapped up in sparkly paper with a bow on top this year may disappoint. If we simply want it spelled out to us, plain as day and undeniable, we’re in for a fruitful ride!”~Sarah Varcas
The New Moon in Capricorn only enhances this as it exposes the Ego and challenges our assumed understandings of what it means to awaken. We are reminded to live in to the practices we know will draw us closer to the Divine, to nourish our souls and enhance our lives and the lives of those around us – not just to talk about doing it, but to make a Practice of it!
“This Moon reminds us that only by testing out perspectives and living our way into our dreams can we discover their truth or otherwise. We cannot assess it all beforehand and decide prior to the start which paths are worthy of effort and which will lead us astray.…. This Moon offers the confidence to step onto the path no matter how uncertain we feel, for only in doing so will we ever discover the next step and then the next, each choreographed from within and without as we pay attention to the truths which arise along the way.” ~Sarah Varcas
“Twinkle” Marie Manning will guide you through a deep retrieval meditation that allows you to draw back to yourself all the energy you have given to others, or they have taken without your consent.
Enter the New Year free of encumbrances, let go of whatever is holding you back. It’s TIME for something NEW!
~ Enjoy more energy
~ ‘Reset’ difficult relationships to be less reactive
~ Experience better communication with the people around you
~ Feel lighter and more confident
Take note of your physical responses to different subjects and situations – What are you reactive to? This could mean anything from an anxiety attack to a deep sigh to a big smile. Why are you reactive to that particular stimulus? What memory, emotion or energy cord is attached?
Whether it is simple to figure these things out or not, we can begin the healing process by using a technique called pulling [or cutting] cords. Every person we deal with, every situation that affects us develops an energy cord to us. This can be draining or reciprocal. In pulling cords we stop the energy drain. We reset the cords with our loved ones for better communication and understanding.
