Please Stop the Violence

I have a lot of friends across this country who are Republicans.  We may not agree on all things – But Not a single one of them is a racist, a misogynist, a bigot, or any of the other things they are being called because they voted for Donald Trump.  Each one is a decent human being, loving and kind and deserves to be treated with respect. I am appalled and dismayed at how many of my fellow liberals are reacting to the election results in violence.

Violence comes in many forms – it begins in our hearts and minds, expands to our words and actions.

Those behaving violently by inciting riots, causing physical harm to people and property and also by verbally beating down those who voted differently including  via social media – – none of this is ok.

It needs to stop.  The violence in all its forms needs to stop.

Be the Peace you want to exist in the world! Please.

An invitation…

If you live near me (Pittsfield, Maine) and have time this week at 8:00AM on Monday or Wednesday morning – – this message is for you This is the meditation room in my home. I promised myself that I will spend time here each day, and ….most mornings… I keep that promise And when I do the day consistently goes much better. Even if I come face-to-face with something unpleasant, I am better equipped to respond with ease, or at least with peace-of-mind and more compassionate words.

I am not a Buddhist, though I do incorporate some Buddhist practices into mine. My typical morning-time in my sanctuary is a 10 minute “Sit” or “Zazen” (“seated meditation”) and I generally focus on gratitude. It is not fancy and there are no elaborate words spoken. I usually place one or both my hands on my heart, listen to my heartbeat and follow my breath. I set my chimes on my phone to gently alert me when the 10 minutes is up. Usually the time flies by and sometimes I reset it for another 10 minutes, and sometimes another 10 after that. But I promise you even sitting still for 10 minutes, shifts the way the day goes. There is something about sitting in this place, (a place that is not where I occupy my sitting the rest of the day) with the sole intention of gathering myself towards gratitude. It is special and I invite you to experience it with me. Hopefully it can help ease the aches in our hearts as we begin to find our way forward post-election

If you have time Monday or Wednesday morning, come sit with me for 10 minutes.
Then we can share some coffee, tea and breakfast together.
Sending love,
 Twinkle Marie 🌸🎶🌸

Love Will Prevail

We will also have some Día de los Muertos coloring sheets and an Ofrenda (Day of the Dead altar) set up for the weekend to explore this sacred time blending Orion’s Mexican Heritage of Día de los Muertos with my tradition of Samhain.  We will light candles to bring light to this dark season and to light the way for our ancestors.

  • Ofrenda means “offering” – should your child wish to bring something to place on the altar, please have them do so.

swimming to the other side

I was so fortunate to spend time with Pat and Sandy last week.  They sang this song Pat wrote many years ago. It has been my constant reminder this week as Life continues to present immense blessings along with evidence of the brokenness that persists in our world.

May I greet each, the blessings and the brokenness, with grace and acceptance and love.

Forward we go.

We are all swimming to the other side.
