Rev. Maria Cook

Unitarian Universalism draws its roots from both the Universalist and Unitarian Faith Traditions.  Universalism was deeply rooted in Christianity two hundred years ago. This service reflects that.

Rev. Maria Cook is known as the First Female Universalist Preacher.

Her ministry was originally rejected by religious leaders, both because she was a woman and because of her radical interpretations of scripture, most specifically, the Nature of God.

To date, no surviving written texts of hers have been shared.

This sermon was created based on observations recorded by others in her time who witnessed or were told about her courageous and tenacious preaching.
