A Theme of Friendship this week!

This week the UU Church of Waterville will be hosting its monthly Coffee House Service.

Kathy McKay and Rachel Marsh-Sachs are co-leading the service and have chosen the Thought for Contemplation:

“A friend is someone who knows all about you and still loves you.”

―Elbert Hubbard

Plan to attend at 10:00am 69 silver Street, Waterville, ME.

Rev. “Twinkle” Marie Manning delivered a service about Friendship and we are re-sharing it again here this week:

Thought for Contemplation

This week’s Thoughts for Contemplation were selected by Dennis Perkins.

“Twinkle” has the honor of co-leading the upcoming worship service at the UU Church in Waterville with Dennis on Sunday, January 26th at 10:00am.

The theme is: “Stewards Recruiting for the Army of Light”

Thoughts for Contemplation:

“The universal divine organization and the natural system (is long and challenging)…

The seed does not at once become a tree; the embryo does not at once become a man; the mineral does not suddenly become a stone. No, they grow and develop gradually and attain the limit of perfection.”

~ ‘Abdu’l-Bahá

“We need a social vision that is as morally compelling as identity politics but does a better job of describing reality. We need a national narrative that points us to some ideal and gives each of us a noble role in pursuing it. That’s the gigantic cultural task that lies ahead.”

~ David Brooks

Thoughts for Contemplation

This week we have two Thoughts for Contemplation in preparation for our MLK Service”

“What happens to a dream deferred?”

– Langston Hughes

“We must combine the toughness

of the serpent and the softness of the dove,

a tough mind and a tender heart.”

– Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Join us along with our special guests the Colby Drummers on Sunday, January 19th, 2025 (10:00AM) at the UU Church of Waterville, Maine as we explore the theme:

Thought for Contemplation

This week we explore the power of Story!

Thought for Contemplation:

“The stories we love best do live in us forever.” – J.K. Rowling

Join us at the UU Church of Waterville, Maine:

Sunday, January 12th, 2025, (10:00AM)

Theme: “Once Upon a Time”

The power of Story has long been key to the sharing of knowledge.

Stories shed light in dark places. Stories may ease fear, or instill it. Some stories inform, others mislead. Stories can address critical issues, offer comfort, alight nostalgia, deepen understanding, make the profound accessible to all and provide inspiration. With the New Year ahead of us, we explore how the stories of our past have shaped us, and how we can write the scripts for our future.
