Rev. Patricia Hatch is coming to Maine! This is her first stop on “Patricia’s Family History Preaching Tour!” She will be at the UU Meeting House, Pittsfield Maine, Sunday, June 16th. The Universalist Church was the congregation of her great grandparents, Flora and Dennison Walker, and their five children. Pictured is her grandmother, Ethel Walker, taking a photo of the church before significant renovation around the turn of the twentieth century! Her sermon is entitled, “Homecoming Inspirations.”
We are so delighted to share this wonderful news! The sun is shining again at the Pittsfield UU Church! Rev. Jess Tardy’s path to UU ministry is unique in that she is an interfaith minister and a recent ChIME graduate. Modeling collaborative leadership, she and her partner, musician Ed Arnold, create a magical and sacred space for all present. What a blessing for this congregation, and for our UU Faith Tradition!
The Meeting House Singers led by Reverend Jess Tardy, and accompanied by a cadre of talented musicians including our own Matrika Press-published poet and songwriter Wes Burton, along with Rodney Mashia, Cynthia Chatis and Ed Arnold will be creating a beautiful service in Pittsfield this week. Jess has been bringing long-awaited new light to this church. She is newly ordained as an Interfaith Minister by the Chaplaincy Institute of Maine (and a lovely soulful woman!!!). Grateful to see glimmers of positive transformation in this congregation. May their spiritual growth be blessed and may they continue on this new and transformational path.

It is with sadness we share that Rev. Dr. Dorothy May Emerson passed away yesterday. Dorothy is one of my colleagues and one of the authors I published through Matrika Press. Her impact on the Unitarian Universalist faith tradition, and on the UU Women’s Movement is enormous, as are her contributions to bringing awareness and solutions to Class discrimination.
Tara explores the beautiful notion of death as advisor, drawing from don Juan’s teachings by Carlos Castaneda: “How can anyone feel so important when we know that death is stalking us?” and Rumi in his ponderings of: “What can I do to save myself?…I will make the infinite my home.”
