“Walk fearlessly into the house of mourning

for grief is just love squaring up to its oldest enemy;

and after all these mortal human years

love is up to the challenge.”

the mystic is…

The mystic
—that is, the person who is ripe with this love consciousness that’s born in the night—
is not more holy but is granted a greater realization of the infinite holiness of the simplest of things.

Speaking by Heart Workshop at Rowe Center

There are still a few full and partial scholarships available for this wonderful workshop offered at Rowe Center by Rev. Stephen M. Shick next month (November 5-7, 2017) Ideal for ministers, activists, or anyone yearning to communicate with greater effectiveness socially or in your business. Whether you’re a seasoned speaker or you are about to face your first audience, the practice of Speaking by Heart enhances your presentation as it releases you from attachment to your script, thus allowing you to fully connect with those you are speaking to. Thanks to the UU Fund, you may be able to attend for free or reduced rate. Visit the website for details and to enroll in this life-enhancing curriculum.
Rev. Stephen M. Shick has practiced speaking without a manuscript for more than 20 years. Stephen’s love of the spoken word began with hosting a nationally syndicated radio program for 12 years. As a principle founder of Community Ministry and the founding director of Unitarian Universalist Peace Network and the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee’s US programs, Stephen has used this style of speaking nationally in keynote speeches, workshop presentations, and public and congregational worship. He is a national CENTER Presenter on this subject for the Unitarian Universalist Ministers Association. Harvard Divinity School has co-sponsored this program for its students and community leaders.  Stephen is author of two books, Be the Change and Consider the Lilies.

TIME: You can be alot of things in this lifetime – but you cannot be a Zebra!

Rev. Marlin Lavanhar reminds us of the limits of our human experience, the limits of Time.  And reminds us too of the wondrous experiences we can choose to have within this limited amount of Time.

Learn to expand the quality of Time we have because we cannot expand the quantity of Time we have.

Learn to stop our compulsive busyness to notice and deeply appreciate the beauty of life, and connect with our heart and spirit, and with those most important in our lives.  Be grateful for the blessings we have.  And moderate our Time in a way that demonstrates this gratitude.

This Issue TV + Maine Peace Walkers in Bath and Brunswick this week!

Please take some time today to watch this show hosted by Bruce Gagnon as he interviews artist Russell Wray.  Both Bruce and Russell are dear to our hearts.  They are peace and environmental activists living in Maine striving to create a better future for our Earth and all her inhabitants.  Both work locally and globally. They were part of a large group of peace activists who were here at Twinkle’s Place last year during Maine Peace Walkers trek.  This year for the Maine Peace Walk they are stationed in Bath.  Tonight the UU Congregation in Brunswick is hosting them for: Maine Peace Walk for Conversion, Community and Climate Join them!

Bruce Gagnon works for the Global Network Against Weapons & Nuclear Power in Space and writes a popular blog called Organizing Notes.

Russell Wray leads an organization called COAST (Citizens Opposing Active Sonar Threats) and was largely motivated to do civil disobedience at BIW due to Navy sonar’s impact on sea life – particularly whales and dolphins.  His art work is often motivated by his love for whales and dolphins.
